Clamp-On Ground Resistance and Leakage Current Tester
MECO 4680 Clamp-On Ground Resistance and Leakage Current Tester is a non-contact type innovative solution for measuring ground resistance and leakage current of electrical installations like transmission poles, transformers, lightning arrestors, motors, high-voltage appliances and cables. It can be used in multi-grounded systems without disconnecting the ground connection of the circuits. This method of measurement completely eleminates the use of ground and auxillary rods, thus saving lot of time and avoiding shutdown of the installations. This is an extremely handy device especially at places where it is next to impossible to punch auxillary electrodes as required by the conventional methods for measurement. Substantial time and manpower savings justify the investment in this instrument.
The main product highlights are as follows:
- Non Contact Measurement
- Auto Ranging
- No Auxillary Electrode Needed
- Continuity Loop Test
- Ground Resistance 0.025Ohms ~ 1500Ohms
- Accomodates Ground Wire Dia.23mm/0.9”
On power-on, the instrument performs a self-calibration check and this can be verified by using the standard resistance template provided. The instrument is based on an unique principle in which a pre-defined current is injected in the ground circuit under test and then, the induced magnetic current thereby generated in the circuit is measured at a high frequency by use of special clamp–on current transformer in the instrument.
The operation procedure is extremely simple. Step 1:Turn the power on and set the rotary switch for the desired parameter and when the ground tester is ready a “beep” will be heard. Step 2:Clamp-On to the electrode or the ground rod/wire to be measured. Step 3: Read the value from the LCD.
The MECO 4680 Clamp-On Ground Resistance Tester is capable of accurately measuring ground resistance from 0.025 Ohms to 1500 Ohms in seven ranges (autoranging). The leakage current measurement in the TRMS mode from 0.200 mA to 1000 mA in four ranges (autoranging) and also has a 10A range. The device also has a continuity test feature, wherein a “beep” sound is heard if the resistance of the circuit under test is less than 40 ohms. The 4 digit 9999 counts LCD, overload indication, light-weight (only 640 grams) and overload protection upto 100A are few of its salient features. It is supplied along with a resistance calibration plate, connecting leads, 9V battery, user manual and a carrying case.
